The Ant & Time Management...

A thought struck me last night as I was reading Proverbs 6:6-
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:"

Time.

There is a time for all things...

Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 KJV
1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Have you ever watched an little ant work? Although she is small, she works very hard. Ants can carry from 25 - 50 times their own weight. I have seen ants pause only a second as they do not waste time. They are always on the go, go, go (kind of sounds like us humans, huh?).

-Ants are small, yet many in number.

-Ants prepare - during the summer they collect their food for the winter months.

-Ants work to help others - if they see another ant carrying a bit of food or struggling with the load they will come to the aid of the little lady in order to help each other carry it back to their home.

- Ants are persistent. They persevere - they don't quit. When life gets tough - press on - God will give you the strength to follow Him.

-Ants show wisdom because they make provision for the future. They show us what it means to think about what is coming. They don’t try to get rich quick; instead, they just work a little at a time, and accumulate riches.

Christians must be as the ant. Ants are persistent and thrifty. They don’t bite off more than they can chew. They work bit by bit. If Christians want influence in society, that is how we must be.

A lot of us feel like the ant - we need motivation for making good use of our time - we need our colony (family, friends) to help us along and encourage us.

I'm a very much a list person. I must have a to do list or I would never get all my daily tasks done in a neat profitable orderly fashion. I hate to waste my time. Ideas of how I can multi-task is always on my mind - how can I do three or four things all at once.

Some things are very simple and obviously makes sense (and of course we wonder why some people just don't get it!)-things like....

Throwing dirty laundry into the hamper,
Putting trash INTO the trash can - not just within reach of the trash basket,
Tossing out junk mail - don't let it pile up on your desk,
Keeping everything in its proper place (although very hard to do - it will save time if you give everything a proper place!!!) How many times do we go crazy looking for misplaced car keys, library books, Sunday shoes, etc. !??!

Ask yourself questions like: Is this really worth my time, energy, and space? Do I really need it?
When it doubt: toss it out. If you feel that something is really important put it away in a labeled box, shelf, or drawer so you know exactly where it is when you need it.

What about the computer??? Do you have so many documents, pictures, e-mails, loaded on your computer that the computer is starting to slow down? Take the time to burn them to CD's and then delete those documents off the computer (MAKE SURE THEY ARE SAVED ONTO THE CD BEFORE YOU DELETE THEM!). You will still have those important documents saved onto a CD, plus you will also have a happier and emptier computer!

There are so many time saving tips that I could share, but for the sake of "time" I'll post them sometime later.

Please leave a comment and share some of your favorite ways to make more use of your time!!!
