Trust & Obey

I enjoy playing hymns and I also enjoy reading the history of how each one came about.
Let me share with you the story behind "Trust and Obey". Sometimes, I admit that I have found it hard to simply trust and obey. There have been certain times over the past several years that I've wondered, Lord, are you sure you know what you're doing?
I am learning through faith to simply trust and obey. It is really simple. How sweet it is to rest knowing that all you have to do is follow the Lord and He will lead each step of the way. He is so faithful, loving and patient.... ALWAYS ready to pick us up when we fall down.

In 1886, Daniel Towner, was leading the music during one of Moody's preaching campaigns in Massachusetts. During the service a young man stood up to give a testimony. "I am not quite sure -- but I am going to trust, and I am going to obey." Towner jotted down the words and sent them to his friend, John Sammis, who was a Presbyterian pastor. Sammis using the words of this short testimony wrote the hymn we know as "Trust and Obey." As he wrote the hymn he considered the different areas of our life what we need to trust God about.

Verse one - our daily walk in life
Verse two -
during the difficult times in life
Verse three - our total submission
Verse four - following God's call for our life

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will He abides with us still,And with all who will trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt nor a fear, not a sigh nor a tear,Can abide while we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love Until all on the altar we lay;For the favor He shows and the joy He bestows,Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,Or we'll walk by His side in the way; What He says we will do, where He sends we will go -Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, But to trust and obey.

Oh, Heather...we sang this song this morning in church. Just us 7 plus Ms. Lora who came with us to help us settle in. We had church in our dining room. It is comforting to know that God will meet with you anywhere in the world if you invite him and offer Him Praise! (This was our message this morning)
Love you,

Yesterday at church Pastor spoke of obedience in Sunday School and then of trust in the morning service. Isn't it amazing how God works!?!
